ARTfeast 2008 Sets a Record

4 APRIL 2008. Mary Harbour, president of ARTsmart, which organizes and produces the annual ARTfeast, announced that the 11th annual weekend of events on February 21-24 set a record in raising funds for art projects targeted to the youth of Santa Fe.

“We far exceeded our expectations,” she said. Funds were generated from donors, underwriters and ticket sales, as well as by auctions of services, products, artworks by professional artists and by children in ARTsmart projects, such as the “I Made It!” plate project. “Santa Feans, as well as people from across the state and nation are becoming aware that the arts enhance a child’s problem-solving skills, building their confidence in imaginatively facing life’s challenges,” Harbour added.

Mary Harbour, president of ARTsmart, which organizes and produces the annual ARTfeast weekend fundraiser with the Santa Fe Gallery Association, announced the winners of the annual “I Made It!” plate and placemat project conducted among fifth and sixth grade students in the Santa Fe Public Schools.

“This was the most difficult year for selecting the images to be included in the plate project, as well as identifying the winners,” says Harbour. “Since we began the project six years ago, the art teachers have become increasingly inventive in their assignments and the students are competing to create the most exciting images.”
